First off please for give me for asking such silly questions, with work and college i have been out of the loop for a while...:doah:
So no matter how i look at it, I will need to get new tires before winter comes because even though the tires i have now say super swamper on the sides, they are more of a drag slick than an off road tire..:eek1:
Currently i have 37 inch tires on my k5. which also has a 14bltff in the rear and a 3/4ton dana 44 in the front. I have been getting prices on tires and found a set of 37 inch swamper mud terrains (truxus mud terain i beleave) for $278 a tire. I also found a set of 40 inch swamper irocks for $269 a tire...
the question is, will my 3/4ton d44 hold up to the 40s? Due to school and the k5 being my only ride so i don't want to break it, it is mainly a highway driven k5, with an occasional jaunt in the snow this winter...well we get snow on the ground every winter, but when i get some free time i like to head up the mountain and play around in the snow a little bit..
My second question is: Does anyone make a front sway bar drop bracket? I have the ORD quick disconnects, and 8 inches of lift, but it looks to be a pretty steep angle....

The 40's may be pushing the limits of the D44 if you decide to wheel it hard. If it's mainly highway driven you should be fine. Just keep an eye on the wheel bearings and ball joints. The 14B probably won't even notice the change in tire size.

Have you tried running with out the sway bar? I've never run one with a lifted truck, haven't had any problems yet.

Either ditch the swaybar, or just make some longer links.

Mud tires suck in the snow. You have been forewarned. :D

i would stick with the radial since you do mostly highway, the trxus will last alot longer then a irok also. dont know what size wheels you have but i had a set of goodyear mtr's (37x12.50x15) on my old 83 k5 and had good luck with them (ride and wear) and they did alot better in the snow then my swampers ever did, should be around the same price as the trxus. national tire and wheel (NTWONLINE) sells a superlift sway bar drop (3") for 56.22$ #SL 3892. hope this helps.
