the truck has developed a funny habit. when i stop at a light everything is normal but once i take my foot off the brake to go it feels like the rear end is unloading or dropping about a inch or so with a low boom sound????anybody got a idea? thanks /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

"boom" sounds are commonly drive-line related, exp. at HWY speeds.
In a standing start, there is alot of strain on the drive-train, everything is "torqued-over" so something might be hitting or going metal to metal.

So
- Check u-joints,
- Check tranny mounts
- Check motor mounts
- Check exhaust routing and clearance (motor torques/lean to the Right side when under hard throttle)

Have someone watch and listen from the side, see if they can pin-point it or "see" the problem area.

I had the same thing happen with my Blazer. I replaced the rear shocks and it went away. Unless you already have new shocks I'd try it. Was a major relief to finally figure out what that sound was. Pretty scary huh

I have the same thing happening to my truck. Maybe mine isn't as severe or it is something different. My truck kicks either when I let off of the brake, or right when I stop. Does this sound like the same problem? If it does let me know what you find out please.

Turn down the POD CD or just skip that song. (sorry, could not help myself)

What year Blazer? My gas tank baffle thing came loose and started to knock against the tank. Only did it on acceleration. Found out after jumping on my trailer hitch enough to make the gas slosh like crazy. Just a thought though.

The 208 and 241 trucks are prone to that. It's usualy the slip yoke into the back of the case making the noise. GM has some special blue goo grease to hide the problem but it will come back in a couple of thoiusand miles. My 79 does that but it's shot splines in the drive shaft.
Just make sure your u-joints are in good shape and while it's irritating it's pretty normal for trucks the age of yours.

Grim is right. Whenever you have splines that are supposed to slide, wear and/or improper lubrication can make it "shock" when it is forced to slide while under torque.

There are other things that could be causing your problem, too.
