I just bought a blazer, previous owner swapped out the 305 with a 350, all works well except the manifold bolt pattern.

A friend has exhaust manifold from a 74 camaro 350
I'm new and want to know if I can use them

Please

The exhaust for both the 305 and 350 should be the same. Sometimes after many years of use when you remove an exhaust manifold they tend be warped a bit which could keep them from bolting back on.

Yeah the manifold is warp just a bit. I've seen people try to spread them back out while trying to get the bolt started but most of the time they end up cracking the ear off.

Start with the 2 outside bolts and do not tighten them - Just get the treads started then work on the others. Once you get them all started, follow back around and tighten them.

I've always wondered if when the manifolds are warped a bit, if you could just use a slightly larger drill bit (perhaps metric?) to enlarge the hole enough that you didn't have to fight getting the threads started, without overly compromising the manifold strength.

When I had that problem ,(manifold not wanting to bolt up),I took it in my garage ,and fired up my wood stove, and placed it on the hot coals for a good 10 minutes, then used my welding gloves to take it out --it was painful to install, but the bolts lined right up!..:D

Some 305's in the early 80's had heads with one less exhaust manifold bolt than all the other small blocks--most of them had manifolds that went over the spark plugs instead of under them, and they also had 2 bolt flanges for the exhaust pipes..most of those were used on Malibu's and Monte Carlos and some Camaros..we had people searching for them come in the junkyard often,we only had a few pairs though..

They make manifold spreaders. Pretty cheap. It is like a collar in the middle and you use a wrench to loosen the bolts that stick out of the collar and that spreads the manifold.

Most auto parts stores have them or can order them. I will see if I can find a link.
