So, I brought my CUCV into the local shop for an inspection and oil change, and while there, told them to look over a vibration I've been having.

The vibration comes when I hit a bump and it feels like it's coming from the front end. You also hear grinding metal. If I let off the gas or hit another bump, the vibration goes away. I keep looking under the truck but I can't see anything, so I have no idea what it is. The truck is noisy as it is so it's hard to diagnose.

The shop called me today and said all done, and that the vibration was from the rust on the rotors because I don't drive it much.

Ill look at it tomorrow but I call bullshit. Can it happen? I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around the truck, just never heard of that.

sure its not death wobble ?

rusty rotors should only come in to play when using brakes .

most shops 10 - 15 years ago let alone now don't have a clue how to work on or diagnose dana 60 king pin front end problems and death wobble on any axle style .

I guess you'll find out whether they actually fixed it or not when you pick it up. Might be good to get a second opinion.

They never said they fixed it but I'll look at the rotors tomorrow (or if they even took the front wheels off) They said I just need to drive it more.

Not death wobble. I replaced the kingpins (what a bitch) and the shock under the axle when i got the truck like 5 or 6 years ago.

king pin springs sag out over time and can cause death wobble again even tho there low miles . had it happen to me before .
