Sorry-wrong subject- \'55 Willys???

Anybody know how difficult/what is involved in converting a '55 Willys truck from 6-12v??? Not positive, but think it's a 250 strait six. Sorry for the ignorance, never done this type of thing before.

Thanks in advance

thought you were paging me,LOL

never done a 6 to 12 but have sold the parts for people to do it when I worked at the auto parts store.

you can get reducers to keep all the gauges stock then just get a 12v battery and 12v coil, and 12 volt lamps and plugs and update the regulator and alt.

the way I did my 55 was i used all chevy,LOL

Where at in Eastern WA? 6 to 12 conversions are not too dificult. You need all new light bulbs, a 12V battery, either upgrade to a 12V alternator or generator (I know a great shop in Kennewick, WA that can rebuild your current one and convert it from 6 to 12V), new coil and add a reducer to keep your guages 6V. Might also need a voltage reducer to keep the points alive as well.

Thanks for the reply's guys, much appreciated!

Kenny-

Actually, we just moved from Richland, up to East Wenatchee about two months ago now. Pretty excited really-just went and picked up the Willys. Paid him last weekend, but he agreed to put a new fuel pump and wire the lights up, so he just finished today. Whoo hooo! Who in Kennewick can re-do the alt??? Still looking for parts to do the swap.

Thanks again!

Mike

Starter Alternator Service
Hwy 395 & 10th
Kennewick, WA
(509) 735-4162

Friend of mine uses them and gets a lot better products than anything you can get at a typical parts house. Cost is usually a little higher but then again most parts stores won't be able to help you either in this case.
