Thinking some 9.00R16 or 255/100R16 Michelins...or someone else's alternative in the same size...would be a good future tire for Big Ugly. Slightly taller but narrower. I don't need the 12.5" wide tires and could use a little more height to help with the gearing.

Basically a 36x10R16. They put them on the LAV's and a few other non-US military vehicles. You used to be able to get them just like the 11.00R16's and other BIG Michelins but now they seem to have dried up. I figure with the war and the LAV's changing from the 9.00R16's to the 255/100R16's this is bound to happen...but I can't find ANY current info on this. Best info I can find so far is several years out of date on Dodge Power Wagon/M37 truck sites and forums and a few European 4x4 websites. None of it is current.

I can find a few worn sets on Ebay and lots of the bigger Michelins but hell, I remember that guys used to buy them new a few years ago.
Anybody got any ideas?

your local GCR if youve got one? or a similar company that does on site tire repair for construction companies and has a vast stock of tires in house. not sure if that size would be a special order, but PRICEY.

GCR?

The problem is I'm in the north woods of Michigan. The nearest big truck service center is a few hours away not counting local companies that maintain their own fleets.
5-6 years ago you could buy these for less than bias ply Swampers...now I'm not sure.

droooool......

Got any actual specs like how tall they are, width, etc?

Had any issues with them? Overall feelings, etc?

Thanks!

I'm not sure where to get a new set, But I have heard that new ones are very expensive. Like 300-400! Your better off getting a used set. Look for some that are like 60-70% tread.

They wear like iron. Once they are bald you can groove them and get some more life out of them.

Nice. I sent that guy a message and am crossing my fingers they can get more in the future.

Was the $330 with shipping?

Uhmmmm...I gotta ask...why so much air pressure? The 4700lbs at 120psi is what EACH tire can hold up.

Dude, don't EVER buy anything from Alfa Heaven. That's where I got my truck from...bunch of liars and theifs. Go over to www.SteelSoldiers.com and do a search for them...they've got some big "fans" over there. @sshats....

The problem is I can find 9.00-16 bias plies anywhere. Kinda like those STA Super Lugs...but I really would like radials for my next tires.

Thanks, I will try a couple of those links.

I was just reading on a Power Wagon/M37 site how in 2002-03 guys were buying NEW Michelin 9.00r16's for the low $200's. $250 was considered expensive.:doah:

?

CDA can't be the only one who has ran these.

HMM... ok i thought that i read somewhere that there were people runnin michelins on h1wheels which i thouhgt were 16.5 maybe im mistaken...

Nope, no 16.5's in military service other than the HMMWV tires.

Well are you looking at H1 or HMMWV rims? Lots of people confuse and interchange H1, Hummer, and HMMWV:rolleyes:

Good idea...those are the mtrs that are worth a **** right? the truck will play in mud so they need to be worth the $.

The 37x12.5R16.5's MT's aren't worth a $hit. Weak sidewalls and the tread packs up easily. Better for the road though.

The 36x12.5-16.5 RT/II's are decent offroad but not Swampers. On road they aren't horrible but don't balance well and as they have a pretty good "crown" to them it's not uncommon for them to wear funny.

This is why I want some Michelin radials...the right height, narrower, radials, and hopefully a better product.

Well, the 9.00R16's and 255/100R16's are pretty damn hard to find and the 11.00R16's are everywhere...

...wonder how much I'd have to cut to fit those 11.00R16's with no or very little lift?:D
