Spare Parts

84 blazer
Did a little digging into the diesel to gas conversion and I think this has already had it done. The tank has gas in it and it has a 700r4 not the turbo 400, so this may be less than I thought. I plan on dropping the engine in tonight. crossing my fingers its an easy thing.

My 6.2L '83 K5 has a 700R4 factory. It's what the half ton diesels got but if it has gas in the tank then you're probably right.

After years of being left alone in the dark, being traded and never picked up, and feeling abandoned spare parts is the main project again. This time in a slightly different direction. The 383 is out and planning on putting an ls in. Want to slowly build this up but main goal is to get it driving for the summer.

After buying a donner cadi with a 5.3, picking up a trans and a bunch of work i finally have a driving K5. The engine cleaned up nice, it has had an intermittent lifter tick that stalled us for a couple weeks but seems to be doing ok. current build specs 5.3, 4L65, 208, 4.56 10 bolt, 35x12.50R17 2" lift springs, DIY EZ inch and 1.5 block in the rear. electrical seems to be working ok but dash needs a little more love.

Slowly buttoning up the little things to make this drivable. New seatbelts, seat covers and a radios installed. took the wife for her first ride in it and found some electrical issues that I'm working on tracking down. Made a bracket to hold a Jack bottle to use as an overflow and used copper tubing to plumb it to the driver side and am pleased with how it turned out. goes to the tuner tomorrow to get a few things worked out and hopefully top off and away we go.

Figured out the electrical problem. Didn’t have a good wire from the alternator to the battery and pushing the brakes just drained the power enough to kill the chassis lighting. New wire and I’ve got the power now. Dash volt meter started working even. Got it tuned and it’s ready to drive. Plenty more work to do but driving is driving.

I should probably explain my electrical issue. The day my wife gave me a ride to bring it home we had a few little things to finish up. Mounted the kick panel speakers from lmc, put straps on the copper tubing, and one last test drive. The build team was watching the kids so I could take my wife for her first cruise in it. About half mile down the road I pushed the brakes and lost all interior power, lights, radio, and very dim headlights. The engine never faltered or showed any signs of power loss. Got it driven back with my sore pride to look into it. Someone suggested I needed a bigger wire from my alternator to my battery. I took the dash and cluster apart and cleaned up the rats nest so I could check through all the wiring and nothing was bad. Tried the larger wire and have been able to put 60ish miles on it since. Such an easy think to over look. But it’s been times and running like a top.

Mounted the kick panel speakers from lmc,
How do you like the fit and the sound of these speakers? Any problem with the hood release? Do they work with an A/C truck? The description isn't impressive, but just going from 3.5" to 6.5" has to make a huge difference.
