Spare tire carrier - mount material?

I've been building a swing out tire carrier and obviously found out the hard way a 2" (1-3/4" ID) tube with poly bushings simply don't cut it. With the tire , hi-lift, ammo and jerry cans it'll tear the 9/16" threads right out of the bumper if it's opened.

Anyone know of a good mounting or material for that? Any pics? how did you mount it and still not really sag and bind?

Some people have had problems with the rockstomper hinge. PBB is a good place to search for that. It is a single shear. Click the pic for the write-up.
