would it be at all possible or practicle to set up a blazer style spare mount on my suburban and keep my barn doors?

i don't see why not...i was pretty sure suburbans had similar mounts....since yours doesn't seem to I'd say the problems you may face are drilling through the wheel well and finding a way to secure it other than if you know how to weld and then through the floor board.....

where is your spare curently mounted? I doubt that it will take away any of the practicality of the barn style doors

it's in it's hole inside the truck at the back left corner. there's a dip in the floorboard there for it.

Or you could mount it to the hinges like I see on so many vans. Just a thougt.
