So I have 37's on a Late 70's K5 Blazer.

It did not come with a spare tire, so I picked one up. Its a 37 as well.

Where do I put this thing? I think it would originally be in the right rear, mounted to the side of the bed, but I don't really want it inside the rig.

Maybe a swing out tire bracket on the rear end? On top of the canopy? Mounted on the front, in front of the grill?

Where do people put these, and how do they mount them?

Thanks.

I had a 33 on a roof rack!!
It was annoying to get to!
On the bigger trucks, I never had a spare. On 35’s or less, I used a 31 on an aluminum rim, with the old Hickey tire carrier.
They make some swing away styles that mount in a hitch.

Buying or building a bumper with a swing out is the easiest way. A 37 on the roof wouldn't be fun at all to get down, and that's a bit of weight and drag up high.

If you have a welder or a buddy with one or isn't hard to whip something up. I built this one with scrap from around the yard and just bought a double shear hinge and latch.

That's a good point about weight and drag up top. And the difficulty of getting it up/down. I guess i could weld one up, but what do I mount it to other than the hitch? The wheel and tire are pretty heavy. 27/12.5/17. Does anyone sell them? Amazon? eBay? Cant find one to buy.

Mine is just a c channel bumper, mounted to the frame and I used a double shear hinge welded to the face of the bumper and built a swing arm of off that to hold the spare.
