Could a spark nock sensor create an open circuit and cause an 86 k5 not to start?

no it should not, is the engine cranking but not starting , not cranking whats the engine doing?

The engine is cranking but no spark. all new dist. cap rotor wire plugs ignition switch..........It just dont make sense

check the restance on the pickup coil, this is under the cap and plugs into the ignition modual. it should be around 1500 ohms i belive
