i parked it one day-tried to start it next-no start-went to distr, changed module, cap rotor ,wires- still no start-now i check for spark-no spark- i replace ign coil [ 90 sub w/350 tbi]- still no spark-what else carries or controls spark? i know the comp does but anything else? please -any help appreciated!

i had a very similar issue at one time, same thing where i parked it one night, went out the next morning to go to work, and no spark.

checked the fuses, and one of the ECM fuses was blown, i replaced it and it fired up for a few seconds, then died again, checked the fuse again, and none were blown this time, so i did the same thing you did and started replacing the main things, mainly the coil pack, and had the module checked, everything after that seemed to be working as should, still no fire.

Finally i yanked out the distributor and foung that the pick-up coil inside the distributor was fried, bought the cheapy version from the "Zone" and went through all the fun of replacing it and reinstalling the dist,,,,fired it up and it ran for maybe 30 minutes, did it again.....

went back and bought the one that cost $3.00 more (the expensive one) and have been running on it ever since, maybe 2 years now.

I to this day do not know what caused it to burn out/fail, but i'm not complaining, it's working.

no spark still

i diddnt mention that i did change the dist-and checked the fuses-during my process of elimination,so im still at a loss-Thanks anyway.

Have you tried jumping off the starter solenoid to see if it turnsover?

Yes. Computer does not control the creation of the spark, only the timing of it.

thanks-cause thats the next thing i was going after-maybe its a fried or broken power wire to one of the other components

Do you have power to the distributor?
im on my way to checking that-but now the snow is in the way+a dead battery-lets say the dist is getting power-90 350 tbi-where would i go after that[my trck has the remote coil which i know isnt throwing spark]

well if coil isnt sparking, there would be no spark, i also have a dui hei that uses a remote coil, i think its a better setup than coil in the cap...is there power to the remote coil?

i will be checking that today-after a battery charge! and what else can make you feel more american than this----workin on a built chevy and watchin the superbowl !

It may seem silly, but is the rotor in your dist turning when you crank the engine? It wouldn't be the first time that happened, it just doesn't happen very often. There's a possibility that the cam isn't even turning. It's just a thought.

i did check that when i swapped out dist-its working-just no spark-

no power

no power at the coil -where does the thick pink wire come from?the ign itself -i need some wiring diagrams!

hmm, i'm not sure, when i put mine in i came off the main switched hot/big wire to a toggle(theft proofing, toggles kinda hidden) to the coils b+

nice info -but before i got back here -i found a bad conection at the ext module[big pink had a break inside wire just exiting the connector]when i get a replacement, i shold be golden!! thanks for all the good info and direction-everybody!
