Anyone does this operation? I have never done it. Seen it done in places where it is highly recommended not to be done, but never done it myself. Just found out why the previous owner thought our 93 Isuzu needed a cylinder head :doah:Damn crossthreaded spark plug... New one just won't go in.

We got the truck for free so no way in hell I am dumping money into it(beyond the little mini-tuneup and oil change). But it has an aluminum head, so worst possible case of my first attempt at this is probably here.

and again, BEATER if it pops a plug it wouldn't be the end of the world in my eyes. We'd be out the sub $50 worth of Pep Boys tires on it... Think I will hit Pep Boys and see if they have some helicoil kits in stock. No reason not to just do it I guess.

As I was looking around online it made me think... could I fit a 6.2L in this thing? hmmmm.... anyway...

i have seen a special tool for fixing striped threads for plugs. it drops in the hole. you then turn the 1 nut till its open. then back the tool out the hole and it cleanes up the splu threads from the good end first.

but this only works if its partly cross threaded.

my uncle did this to his little toyota truck he got for free...it seemed to work...i havnnet heard of it dyeing because of it. just make sure you vaccumm up the shavings/magnet on stick etc etc.
