I've had trouble with the #7 cyl. Spark plug threads ever since I took the plug out the first time. I really need to get them chased or re-threaded or something. Is this something a local machine shop or automotive maintenance place could take care of?

I really am hoping this is fixable with the engine in the truck. I don't own a tap and dye or thread chaser set. At the cost of buying one I would rather just pay some one to fix it for me.

Any advice?

Oh, wow that is cheap. I was in unaware of products like that.

My FLAPS basically was telling me how screwed I am because the spark plugs wouldn't start in straight and I had to kind of "force/persuade" the plug into the hole. Also, how almost no one would touch the truck to repair that.

Thanks for the link.

Should I just use oil on the threads or maybe some WD-40?

Also, do you know what the thread specs are for the spark plug holes?

Grease will catch the shavings from going into the engine the best. Put it in about two turns, take it out, wipe it off, regrease, repeat.

Im surprised the heads in your truck are boogered being cast iron. I bought one of these last summer when I did a tune up on a TPI callaway turbo corvette. #2 spark plug threads got Fd up. I spent 4 hours trying over and over again to chase the threads in those stupid aluminum heads and finally got it with that thing.
