spark plug & wire help

hey i just replaced my plugs and wires a week ago and the truck seems to be surging at certain rpms. almost like one cylinder is firing "better" than another. what could be the culpret? im gonna try to fix it tommorow just wondering if you guys had any ideas. it runs fine when accelerating or somping on it.

autolite plugs gapped to 35 or 45 i think

Gap should be .35 Is this at idle?

idle is a little more rough and while at a constant rpm in 3rd gear. i couldnt tell you what rpm because i dont have my tach setup yet

Did you replace your cap, rotor and IAC modual?

its still surging and has a rough idle. i think im going to get some good ol' ac delco plugs. which ones???

also im going to seafoam it today too!

Have you checked to be sure you didn't get a couple of wires crossed?

You sure you have the right gap? I just changed mine and it called for .45

On what motor? On my blazer front clip it clearly states .35 gap.

.035" is a TBI thing I think.. the older ones are .045"

Not sure what the difference would be a in a TBI truck though.. anyone know?

As far as plugs, just go down to your neighborhood parts store and ask for AC Delco plugs for your truck.. they'll have them and should be about $2 a plug.

When my truck was having ignition issues it turned out to be a combo of the coil, cap, rotor, plugs, and a couple really corroded wires.

Best to gap the plugs per the plug makers recommendation. There are differences such as heat range (hot vs. cold plug). You could also pull the plugs and read em. This will tell you how close the gap actually is to what your engine likes. Most repair manuals show how to read a plug. Hope this helps.

This might be a little further out there but I would check the plugs and wires going to your throttle position sensor. Also make sure the tps bolts are good and tight. I had this problem a while back and my tps unit was actually lose a tiny bit. Fixed it right up. Might help but there ya go.

ac delco plugs .

to much built in to the ignition system these days to make it run smooth and when you change brands of plugs i have seen it and fixed it. install the brand the factory did.
