What's your suggestions on plug wires. Have had a problem w/ headers and tight fit on the Jimmy. Have to get shorty plugs just to get them in there. Got some of the woven heat boots and they help. But still have wires that melt over time.

Any luck w/ some that are better than others, or are they all equally good (or garbage)..

I ended up buying a set of the Accel ceramic boot wires.
The reviews led me to try a set. I only have one trip to BB on them, including the drive there and back, so no long term results yet. Just that, so far, so good.
Not cheap, but I read reviews in a couple of places before buying.

Thanks, been through a couple of sets now, keep burning. Wasnt sure if those worked well, and how fragile they might be to cracking.

The accel ceramics are real good until you go to remove them. I ruin at least one or two that get real hot. Maybe I’m being too stingy with the silicone grease.

Ive had good results with my Taylor wires.
My MSD wires cracked a boot on one cylinder.
I liked the Taylor wires, but didn't seem to find enough protection from the heat with just heat sleeves. Granted, they were very close!

I have not tried removing the Accel ceramic ones yet, so no idea of the lube level vs removal process.

Will straight boots work with your exhaust? I’m going that route with my stock 350 TBI to keep the boots off of the heat shields.

Straight plug wires will most likely fry.

I just ordered some accel ceramics, I've got some of the woven booties on them right now and they're not quite doing the job, seems to slow it down, but still got some hot spots going.. Bought a tube of dielectric to hopefully help w/ removal..

The ceramics are the only thing that have stood up to the big block headers I have.
Definitely be liberal with the lube.

I have taylor 8mm angled wires with heat boots on for the headers on the Blazer. 8mm taylor on the c10 with ram horns no heat boots. Pretty their 90 degree angle

I couldn't tell you, one of the few that has air injection on them. I didn't install them. They're from the PO.

+1 more for Taylor, running a set made for RV’s the box says, extreme heat, each one has a factory installed sleeve. Very well made and have been on for 3yrs now, no issues. I think they were $150, but I was so tired of carrying spare wires.

I believe the old Edelbrock TES headers were the only ones ever made for the trucks that were smog compliant? If so, they were designed to use the stock plug wires. Some applications came with a couple plug boots to swap over for fitment, but I don't remember the truck headers including them.

In short, 90* boots aughta work with proper routing. Like everyone else, I've had good luck with Taylor wires.

I think I'm running a set of 90* Accel do it yourself wires.

I've got them run up between the headers and block, angled towards each other in pairs, then using hangers between each cylinder pair. Been 20 years or so with the same plug wires, haven't burned one yet.

How close are your wires and boots to the header tubes?

When I bought a set of plug wires for a truck with headers I bought a set of in-house brand Summit Racing wires that had plug boots that could be bent to what ever degree angle you needed them to be with a set of heat cover boots as well.
