Going to be doing a motor swap in my buddy's 88 k1500 350 TBI and up in the air go with factory cheap plugs or go with a higher end plug? also anyone recomm decent exhaust manifold gasket for stock motor?

Not looking for anything super fancy but this is going to be a crate motor and he wants it to last a while. So thoughts and opinions?

I haven't used gasket on exhaust manifolds for a long time

Using headers? Dead soft copper

For plugs use what the factory recommends. These engines seem to run best on them, and I've seen a few issues with trying to run newer style fancy plugs.

For exhaust manifolds, the three piece factory style works well without leaks. I generally get the Fel-Pro brand. I also like that they're easy to install--thread in the bolts and drop the gasket in, as opposed to lining up bolt holes and holding up a one-piece gasket while manipulating the manifold.

Many folks just get the exhaust manifold surfaced and run without gaskets. Headers? Like @bent72 said, copper.

If you have access to a big belt samder you can surface your own manifolds if you are careful. Actually, the machine shop is just going to let them ride on a giant table mounted belt sander anyway. They aren't as particular as an intake manifold, as long as they are flat accross the mounting surfaces front to rear, you'll be good.
