Speaker suggestion for dash??

If the windshield is leaking pulling the dash won't fix it. Put a hose on the darn thing and find exactly where the leak is. If the windshieild is leaking, put a new gasket in it and be done. If you don't think you can handle it, call your insurance company and see if the windsheild is covered. If not, a glass company should be able to replace the seal.

I need to pull the dash to see if its the windshield. I can look up from the floorboards all the way to the top for the dash. its gotta be the corner to the front portion of the dash. Its so high up, it can only be the windshield, ive already taken care of the kickpanel seal and where the heater hoses come thru firewall.

Can the windshield seal still be gotta from dealership?

what about the LMC ones?

Can I reuse the center trim piece?

fyi check for crap build up in the wiper transmission area in the cowl duct.

i got a truck 1 time. had mouse nest in there. got wet from rain in winter and froze. poped the factory seam sealer apart. i pulled it all out cleaned it and resealed the seam. no more leaks on my feet under the dash.

im going to try to modify for 4" pioneers, if not gonna find some 3.5s., the kicker ks looked promising.

Yea, im going to pull the cowl and paint it, along with my hood, so Ill give a looksy. could be that I suppose. we've had crazy rain lately and truck jus sits under a tree.

I found some Kenwood. KFC-835c, they are discountinued thru alot of places but I found a pair on amazon. Ive had them b4, they work ok, but eventually sun kills them, they will work for now. 19bux a pair.

i used Polk db351 (3 1/2") in mine...had to do a little modifying, but not much...i've been very happy with them

In my '88, I used some 3.5 Kickers in the factory corner mounts. They fit fine even though they have big magnets on them.

In my '77 I mounted some 4 inch Boston something or other, in the center speaker opening. I just bolted them together and mounted them. That works well too.

I put 4.5 by 6 plates in the corner mount because I had 'em but it took extensive modification including losing one of the clips for the dash. Not worth it but they do sound great;)

i have the pioneers and i made them fit but i cut holes in the dash because they were squashed against it. And on the driver side i couldn't use the stock speaker bracket.

push out the holes in the dash and drop the speakers in from the top. one size fits all.

I had some Pioneer 3.5s, so I used them. To get some semblance of mid/bass up front, I put a 4x10 speaker in the center hole and built a passive crossover to route the lows to that speaker. I think somebody makes a DVC 6x9, which would be even better if you could cut to fit. It's probably not worth spending much on because any real lows will be coming from the back, but in my case I had stuff on hand, so it made a fun experiment.

The key to making speakers work up front is sealing them to the dash pad. There is no real cabinet in the dash so you have to separate the front and rear waves from the speaker. Obviously you can't get any real bass from the dash, but it will be 10x worse if you don't do this.

I had some eclipse 3.5" in there. Replaced them with some Eclipse 4" speakers. Had to round the hole out a bit but they fit and sound better. Little more bump.
