use a button head and throw some silicon in the hole so it wont rust up..just peel out the silicon if you need to remove it.

i have some clearence problems and this would be better for me up here in the rust belt over the socket head or button head allen bolt thing lots of guys do .
You can get ARP bolts with a 3/8 head, or even a 5/16 head, in 6 point or 12 point. We use them all the time for headers. Available in stainless as well

as i said before . . . . :deal: . . . i cant use a socket head allen bolt style . i live in the RUST BELT . they would be useless in a winter season or 2 .

and we are going header bolts .

Grade 8 and above bolts "usually" don't corrode like the lower tensile strength ones...most have a cadnium or nickel plating..

But with the "quality" of todays China and other imported crap steel, there is no guarantee they wont rot either..

In my experience allen head bolts usually hold up very well against salt and corrosive environments, but some new bolts I bought to use on a tractor have already turned brown and rusty/scaly,less than a year later.while old ones I had kicking around I bought back in the 80's that were likely made 50 years ago are still black and look like I just installed them..

I used to be amazed at the junkyard,we had vehicles that sat forver there ,that were as old as the 1920's,and many fasteners we thought would NEVER come off, unscrewed rather easily, without snapping off or rounding the hex off..that says a lot for the quality and care that was put into making things that far back.."virgin steel" ,not recycled crap full of impurities..
