I recently bought a 15"x7" OEM aluminum wheel (GM part # 12323662) for the late 80's/early 90's K5 Blazer, Suburban, and 4x4 trucks. This wheel has never been installed, it's still in the GM box, and is in mint condition. I could not pass it up even if I never use it. I just had to have it. Anyhow, it still has the GM tag label that says "aluminum wheels require special lug nuts". Have any of you ever heard of this? Are the aluminum wheel lug holes shaped/tapered differently or something? If I ever decide to put this style wheel back on my truck then I'd like to know more about these "special" lug nuts.

hum .. .... ....

to old for me to recall on my shop years .

if mine I would get a n.o.s. or repop center with 4x4 logo . then dumbby flange and studs with nice chrome nuts .

then make it all bolt together and make a table out of it for a man cave .

Judging by the photo it's either a tapered or rounded lug nut type. Should be easily identified with a closer look at the wheel.

now you post that pic . . . .

some older lugs were to big 13/16 or 21 mm or bigger at the flair and these would dig in to the face of the rim and trash it . that's prob what they are referring to .
