I'm going to need to take my cap off in the next few weeks to replace my bed sides. But I don't have the tool to do it and I don't know what it's called to buy it. It lookes like it's a torx bolt with a pin in the middle of it.
Sorry about the stuiped question :o . Bujt it had to be asked:D
Thanks
Adam

It's called a tamper proof torx head - Sears has them online...I think you have to buy the whole kit which is like 30 bucks.

vise grips will also work but it will take you a little longer to get it done. Ask me how I know? I had a the torx bit break inside one of the bolts. I replaced all the bolts with the 1/2 inch old style bolt afterwards.

Thanks I just found it on sears.com it's like 38 bucks. But hey more tools for me. :)

It's a tamper proof Torx Bit (t-40 is the size). You can buy just the single bit for about a dollar at Auto Zone. I believe the brand is Great Neck. It will fit any screwdriver with a changeable bit. Go ahead and buy 2 or 3 if this is the first time they have been off. Nevermind, if you have an '86 it would have been the 1/2" head like the spare tire retainer has from the factory. The T-40 head came about in the '89 model year so somebody has changed them before.
