I just got the Spectra Premium sending unit for a 78 k5 with the 4 outports from rockauto.com. It is made in china. I hate putting china parts on my k5.
Anyways the sock is held on by some plastic piece. The OEM piece was made of metal. I would almost rather try to fix the old piece. The sock is really dirt and there is slight rust that would need to be removed and painted.
