My speedometer doesnt work and im guessing that it was just disconnected. I couldnt find any diagram that showed what needs to be plugged into the tranny so I was hoping I could get some help from the gurus on here.

its a 75 K10 350/465/205

i have the same problem. i was told its just a cable that plugs in but i havent gotten underneath to look....

Speedo cable

Won't be hooked to the trans. Hooked to t. case. You'll need the speed adaptor to get it to work correctly with d.train you are running.

Hook it to the trans, it won't read correctly when you are in 2lo/4lo. If you don't care about that, just get a new cable, more'n likely. Never had a speedo head go bad myself, but sh!t happens!!

Alright wasnt sure where exactly it went, and if im in 2lo/4lo I dont think ill be anywhere with speed limits so no, I dont care at all.

Any chance I could get a pic of what this bad boy looks like? I dont really wanna go searching around under my truck right now with the snow and ice on the ground.

With a transfer case you shouldn't have an output on the trans. There should be a round adaptor on the end of the transfer case. If the cable is not connected, you should see a square hole in it for the cable. The cable runs from there to the speedo, or from there to the transducer on the fender for the cruise control, then another cable runs into the cab to the back of the speedo.

Speedo's can also go bad, so if the cable is hooked up, grab a drill and have someone run the drill while you watch the speedo. The speedo could be good and the plastic gear in the TC could be bad. Or the cable could have come out of the back of the speedo.

If the speedo moves with the cable, and was hooked to the TC, lift the rear wheels of the vehicle, put the TC in neutral, and rotate the driveline. You should see that little square gear turn, if it doesn't the gear is bad.

There are lot's of little things to test for the speedo.

As mentioned, the speedometer cable (its mechanical on old trucks like this) runs from the back of the transfer case to the speedometer in the dash. If either of those aren't connected, it won't work.

If they're both connected, 70% chance that the speedometer died. The speedometers in that generation truck are not particularly known for reliability.

That remaining 30% is a broken speedometer cable. Obviously replacing it will fix that.
