I just got my truck back from the shop and the speedometer doesn't work. Is there a fuse that could be blown? Where does it connect? My book didn't have any info. It is connected in the dash, but the needle doesn't move.

Speedometer on the '89 is mechanical.
Check that it's connected under the truck at the transfercase, and if it is, I'd hook a drill up to that end and see if you can make the speedo run. If you can, the drive or driven gear (or both)in the t-case is/are shot.
Very easy to find, speedo cable is impossible to miss under there.
