stripped down an old tbi motor, 6 of 8 cylinders were totally gunked up from burning oil. (it was using @ 3 qts every 200 miles....:eek1:)

been slipping pulleys and brackets to work for blasting. brought 'em home, threw some paint on them, very nice!

put on the edelbrock t.e.s., serpentine bracket, (driver side, still gotta blast and paint the pass side.)

I was concerned about the cylinders rusting because it had been sitting for @ 5 years. I realized some valves would be in various open positions. I shined my maglight in the ports, and peeked through the spark plug holes. Shined like new $$$! :thumb:

installed spark plugs. I'm saving the intake for last so I can verify oil flow when I pre-oil it. It is well covered and protected from foreign objects.

I plan on assembling the tranny and t-case and installing as a single unit. I know, I gotta pull the front clip, but I gotta clean up engine bay anyway. I have an brand new H-D oil cooler for a Electra Glide from my riding days, I'm gonna use it for a P.S. cooler. Got a couple of tranny coolers from old projects that never got completed, gonna put one in. Gotta a 4 core radiator to swap in.

Hell, it's time to start stripping the big blue turd & getting her ready for a new heart....:woot:

I think I'm gonna start stripping the burb this week...Wife is mad at me again..(something about October...?), need to spend more time in the garage any way.

Got everything I need, except I need to plumb an electric fuel pump. The crate motor I have doesn't have provision for a mechanical....I bought it with plans on refurbing my ex's truck. Screw her and her f'n truck.

I've had to put my burb on hold since the divorce, this has been a longgggggg time coming....:thumb:

Got dayvorced in '08. Happily remarried now....her, I wonder sometimes:whistle::D

man doesnt waste no effin time:eek1:

hope ya gots the same attitude toward yer rig:haha:

Yeah, my new Bride H-A-T-E-S my truck. I just remind her that it was here before her, it'll be here after she's gone. I'm too damn old and crusty to be hen picked....:pimp:

old cylinder - 6 of the 8 cylinders were burning oil...this crud was in the combustion chamber. the old motor used 3 quarts of oil going to Va Beach @ 200 miles.

And now, for the first time ever, my new 6 year old crate motor....tadaaa

that's oil on the lifter spider, not rust. That's rust on the head and block...

rebuilt 700r4, been sitting for @ 6 years too. NP 241 in background. I've had three trucks with 700R4's, and every one them has died. Not putting a tranny cooler on these things is like throwing bullets instead of using a gun. It's just stupid....

and my Edelbrock 3505 multipoint unit...

Edelbrock 3505 multipoint unit? Going to have to research this more, I've toyed with putting a tpi setup on my new motor, if I'm not happy with the tbi setup I have now...

What crate engine is it, or is it just a reman vortec 350?

I bought this motor to go with the Edelbrock unit. Edelbrock claimed what was then a lot of power increase over the stock TBI motor. It was about $1900 back when I got it.

here's the FI system at Summit. It looks like it's out of production...

Basically, you take the injectors out of the throttle body, swap the manifold and the fuel pump and you have a multi port system on the "cheap". IIrc, it was about $900 at the time....the 3505 was for Vortec heads.
