hey everyone im kinda starting a new thread from the old one about my gears, tumbleweed has been nice enough to ship me some for free and i will tell ya what a great guy, i have been kinda looking back and forth at lockers and i was wondering what is your best bang for your buck on lockers? its my DD and it sees occasional offroading. im gonna install the spiders for now, but when i can afford it what would be the cheapest but still reliable locker? thanks everyone.

I run a lockright in my rear axle and love it, its a 10b with 33s.

If your wanting a "cheap" or "easy" locker a lunchbox is the way to go. (lockright, quicklock, etc)

Most anything else and you are looking into resetting up the backlash in the gears.

Anywhere. 4wheel parts is a good place to read up and find different types, but i wouldnt buy from there. Simply because of their prices.

a "lunchbox" locker is anything that replaces JUST the spider gears. typically consisting of 2 side gear plates, pins springs, and 2"floating" gear plates.

Is it a standard or auto? You won't be happy with a street truck with a standard and a lockright. From what I understand it's fine with an auto.

I wouldn't buy from there because the house brand is a Genuine Gear "Quic Loc" , aka Detroit EZ Locker . Its a big POS . Will round the teeth in six months if you drive it on the street .

If its not in a black and yellow box , and says "Lockright" , I wouldn't buy it !!

Ah im not remembering this. When i was in the market to buy one i tried looking on 4wp and that was all they had.

well im running a sm465 so is a lockright locker going to be ok with about 75% highway and 25% dirt? other than 4wp where else can i go for lockright lockers?

With the SM465, I wouldn't recomend a Lockright. When you decelerate the locker enguages causing some bad binding and bucking while cornering at low speed. You have to change your driving style and accelerate through turns to avoid this. I have made this mistake. Go Detroit.
