Well my friends I went and picked up my project truck today, an '84 M1008 1 1/4 ton Army pick up. I think I did well, ended up with the truck body and frame with a clear title for $50. No axles, no drive train. Guy had to have it gone by this Monday, or was going to get fined by the city. Overall plan is a truggy / shorty flatbed to hunt, fish, and rock crawl with when we move to Tennessee in the next year or so.

Not the prettiest, but I've seen worse. Heres what I found when I got there. Needs cab corners, hood, a few pin holes patched, otherwise not to bad yet.

Thats right tires with no axles in the wheel wells.

Got it loaded on the flatbed trailer and got it home uneventfully. Got the truck up on jack stands and the bedd is now off. Plans at this point for the truck...
1) Bob frame back to 4-5ft from the cab.
2) Strip frame bare, sandblast, prime, paint.
3) Install Shackle flip and new front hanger with 56" rear springs (custom from diy4x to mate 3/4 ton 14 bolt to one ton frame.
4) 14 bolt rear, 4.88 gears, Detroit locker, disc conversion, guardsman, 3/8 plate diff cover.
5) B52 from suspention
6) Dana 60 front, 4.88gears, Detroit locker, 3/8" plate diff cover, convert from DRW to SRW, 35 spline outers, Warn premiums.
7) 6.2 Diesel NA engine.
8) NV4500 tranny for 2002 K2500.
9) 203/205 doubler with cable 3 stick shifters.
10) Flat bed with tool box bed sides, and swing away tire carrier gate.
11) 11.00r16 Michelins or 39.5" iroks

There will be more as I get deeper in the truck, but thats the basic jist for now. Will take some better pictures with out the bed tommorow. Plan is to get front clip off tommorow, cab removal Tuesday, and then sand blasting and priming before I go back to work on the 18th (I work offshore 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off). More tommorow....Dave

Before any one asks, the name came from the fiance, the truck should be able to climb all over, and a nod to Talledega Nights, coming at you like a spider monkey. Always nice when the better half is good with trucks parts everywhere.

Update is I started working for a new drilling company, and have been home 2 days in the last three months. The M1008 ended up being to rotton to mess with so the parts are going into the origional spider monkey, a 1990 diesel k5. The rear end and suspention are in, but not the front. I have some pictures on my phone, will try to upload them on here tonight. Up side is my schedule should stabalize to a 28 on 28 off in the middle of March and work will comense again. Untill then, I'll just have to suffer over here in Subik Bay, Phillipines. Lifes rough when you have to work somewhere this pretty.

Got a couple of weeks home and didn't even look at it lol. I'll be home in 2 1/2 weeks (maybe) and will try to get the front end and lift in.
