.....yeah the 14 bolt housing is toast
, I do have another 14 bolt that I am rebuilding, but I'm on a budget. What are the chances that the carrier could be damaged? The race that is spinning is in the housing on the passenger's side of the carrier, I've put about 800 miles on the recently swapped rear end with a bearing and race replacement at 400 miles, the gears are in good shape however I want to avoid dropping money on a 4.56 and up carrier, or a set of new gears. I'm currently running 5.38s.
The 14 bolt that I am rebuilding unfortunately has 3.73s, and I plan on swapping the carrier, Detroit locker, an possibly ring an pinion over to the new housing. If the carrier is messed up then I have to either buy a new carrier or (if they offer it) buy a thick cut ring and pinion set.
Any suggestions?
