Spinning in nuetral?

I have a 700r4 in my 82 and my rear end recently gave out. While checking that out, I noticed that when I put the tranny in nuetral the driveshaft turns, i don't think it would be enough to push the truck because I never noticed it before. Is this normal or what is up?

That's normal, I think it is just a parasitic drag of the auto trans. or something like that

Its normal. Just about all auto and even standard cars will do this. Even though there are no clutches engaged (gears) all the parts in the tranny are still spinning from the engine. It just feeds down through the tranny.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better, I thought I had a whole new load of crap on my hands. It's bad enough that the rear went out alone. lol.
