My 71 Monte Carlo project that I've been working on for about 9-10 years. I bought it to make a nasty street fighter type build that would be more track car than street car. After driving it bone stock for a while I changed direction a bit and started going towards a streetable cruiser. So far I've re-done all the suspension with tubular arms front and rear with coilover shocks. Life has slowed down the build quite a bit so it's not as far as I would like but I'm looking to major progress soon.

Woo. You’ve put some time and effort into this

Love those early ones….I had a 74-454/T400 maroon/white top.
they are great cruisers!
looking forward to the updates!

I didn't have an early one, almost bought a 73 but ended up with a 78.
It was a lot of fun though, much lighter than the early ones.

I had a big block converted 4 speed 72 in high school. Fun car. Destroyed hundreds of rear tires on that car.

Well I should be deep into a manual transmission swap but any major work is now on temporary hold. My father in law/landlord recently passed away and we're in the middle of liquidating the estate including the house we rented from him. That means we are in the market for a house, with a big garage and or shop. So for now any work that gets done is only going to be quick projects so when it's time to move I can drive everything to the new place rather than have to tow anything.

Good idea.
When I moved twice I had 16 projects I had to tow.
It wasn't fun

I love Monte Carlos over Chevelles. First gens are my favorite years, such epic cars.
I'm a Chevelle guy but the price of a comparable condition Chevelle at the time I bought this car was at least 3x the cost if not more and that was 10 years ago so it's gone up since then. I just wish there was more support for replacement sheet metal for them but it has been getting better.

Brand new steel front fenders are available for first gen Monte Carlos now.

I'm almost done installing my 416 ci BB motor in my 72, so I can do the break-in on the Lunati VooDoo cam.

Once that's done, finish a little more body work, and then get the body prepped for the new paint and vinyl top.

How's the fit on that hood? I've really been wanting one since they came out. I've got a PNW based Facebook page for Monte's https://www.facebook.com/groups/847359649304226/

The hood fits great! I just need to adjust my front fenders more to align it up better, but I'll get that done just as soon as I'm done breaking in the Lunati Voodoo cam in the big block.

Congrats, Nice setup!
it’ll be full in no time!
