I currently have a 208 behind a sm465 in my truck. Since I am probably going to part out my truck I'm considering just keeping the tcase for my s10 build.

The tcase is an 87 NP208 that is behind a sm465. The input is a 32spline correct?

So I'm curious what its going to take to get this 208 to bolt up to an nv3500. Seeing as how its a half ton unit I can only assume its 27 spline output no?

Therefore I would need to swap my input shaft in the transfer case to accommodate the nv3500 (which i'm assuming i a 27 spline since its a half ton trans.)

O and as a side question: Anyone know what year s10s switched from manual speedo to electronic? I'd imagine it changed with the 2nd gen switch.

Well it seems that I have answered my own question.

Despite the nv3500 being a half ton trans the output is identical to the nv4500 hense 32 spline. Seeing as how my sm465 is 32 spline a nv3500 should bolt right up to my 208 with the correct adapter.

It'll prolly just bolt right up if the tranny has the 6 hole round adaptor...although you might need to slightly oval one hole to make it work. The 6 hole pattern isn't 100% symetrical (I know I spelled that wrong...or at least it looks wrong. )

I had to slightly alter the adaptor on my NV4500 by ovalling one hole. The SM 465 was passenger drop application and the NV3500 and 4500 were exclusively driver's drop. So GM mirrored the hole pattern...God only knows why but they did.

Alright thanks. From what I've read the s10 nv3500s are 27 spline and the full size nv3500s are 32 spline and will work with my 208.

S-10's went to electric speedo in '89. You would never know it by looking at the front of the cluster.
