Has anybody tried the splitfire plugs, do they actually work? After cleaning and adjusting my q-jet it still smells like gas out of the exhaust, I was thinking a better spark might help burn the gas and reduce the smell. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

If your ignition system is weak or your timing is off then they will help.

You will eventually need to fix your ignition system and timing anyways. Save the money and fix your ignition system.

Good luck.

I have tried them and I heard the same from many sources:
On high output , high revving engines, they rock, on slow going idling 4x4 they suck.
I use the Champion Truck series and I am very pleased with them. they last a long time and they burn great.

I have all of the above and kinda like them........ /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Check your ignition system, and make sure the carb is adjusted propperly. You might want to run a hotter plug. I just can't justifie the price for the split fires. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Can you recommend a hotter plug, I usually just ask for plugs for an 86 K5 and use what they give. Also, for a hotter plug what kind of opening do you recommend. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

i got a free set from a herculiner rebate. they seem to work like any other plug, i really cant tell the difference. i dont think i would pay more for them though.

It is a gimmick. The spark can only travel to one part of the electrode at a time. You don't get two arcs like they want you to think.

Find me a serious race team that actually uses them...

My 350 runs smooth with "rapid fire" plugs, never had a problem with em, and the number on the plug is easy to remember, "1"
