installing a grizzly locker in a 14bff, got the carrier out and ring bolts out, carrier won't split though. been "massaging" it with a deadblow but nothings budging. any tricks? anything i'm missing?

get bigger hammer or hit it like a man . :haha:

should just pop apart . had to give few taps before but never one stuck .

unless you got a gov-loc and the unit you got wont work and there held together with few screws under gear on face.

There are 2 countersunk phillips screws that hold the case halves together, i'm assuming you have those removed? Also don't forget to line up the marks on each case half when you reassemble the case.

And if no marks are visible, stake your own so it going back together correctly.

damn do i feel like an idiot...could have swore i had an open carrier, turns out it's a gov lock...

i called that one

and fyi next time http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151608

i got a open carrier no guts if you need one. i think its 4.10 down . pm me if you do .

yeah you did, thanks for the offer on the carrier but think i got a line on one the next town over.

question though, since the carrier and axle shafts are out is there any reason i can't shift into 4wd and drive on the front axle? just need to get it to a shop to have the gears set up
