Just like the title says, Im thinking about spraying some Al's Liner on my firewall. It will be tinted body color Soim sure it wont stand out very much. Is there any reason I shouldnt do this?

Not worried about the sound problem, I will be instally dynamat knockoff in the cab.

More or less just looking to clean up the firewall area, not really wanting to fill in all the spot welds, small holes and whatnot with body filler then paint.

Just looking for any insight that I may not be thinking of before i spray it on and possibly regret it later.

Blaze is a CK5 vendor that sells the stuff he was very helpful when I was deciding what to do. I haven't gotten my stuff from him yet but I will hopefully soon.

Contact him I am sure he can answer all your questions

I was thinking about spraying my firewall and both sides of my wheel wells too.

I've got the Al's liner on the inside of mine and it's fairly tough and is a decent sound deadener as well. I'm not sure about the heat resistance, but urethane (Al's) is usually not bad for that. I wouldn't use it next to a header or anything though. I did weld a body panel a few inches away from it and it held up. It did start to turn black at the edge, but hasn't peeled or lifted.

Good to know guys, I ordered through Blaze and he has been very helpful so far. Thanks for the input on yours too Brian, I was really wanting to hear from someone that has done it already.

Wear thick gloves and a long sleeve shirt/pants/shoes. The gun needs a lot of air volume from your compressor to maintain a nice fine texture. Also, don't keep any baby cribs your wife wants to keep near where any overspray might get. :doah:

i saw a rhino-lined firewall (not sure how similar "Al's" is) that got dried out and flaked near the heads from the heat. the guy said it took about a year.

No worries there, the wife knows that the garage is for GUY suff, not any of her crap, except for in the corner, and a few things on the shelf, and a couple boxes over by the door, But other than that its all mine:haha:

One other thing, if your compressor isn't up to par (>13cfm@90psi), I'd recommend adding a small air "ball valve" on the gun to be able to shut the air flow off every minute or so while the compressor builds the pressure back up. I didn't realize the trigger on the gun only stopped the flow of liner and not the air and once it's mixed there's no time to mess with anything.

Good info, Mine is 10.3, ill be sure to get a valve first

This question is for those that have used al's liner. I need to know if it will cover this and still look uniform after sprayed, or if I need to throw some filler in there to get things up to par. I filled in all the holes on the firewall I will not be using. I want all the spot welds covered too. You think this will look right?

I did mine when I went through my dually. It looks great when it's new but collects dirt, grease, and grime link e a mofo. I am going to have it sand blasted if I ever dig into it again and paint it gloss, either black or body color. Just my experiences. It is very forgiving and hides a LOT.

I might try and pop up those dents in the fender, but the liner should cover most everything you show.

Mine does collect dirt in the crevices of the texture. I might try and coat it with some armour-all or something after it's dry if you care about that.

Make sure you primer it well before spraying it too.

Yep, you can use any vinyl cleaner and it will clean it right up.

I had Al's in the bed of my truck (before the Line-X that was under it peeled up and took the Al's with it ) and I'd haul dirt and rocky for some work I was doing in the yard. I just washed it like I did the rest of the truck and wiped it down with some vinyl cleaner and it shined right up.

What about spraying it on the firewall? How will it hold up to the heat?

Got it sprayed today, really happy with how it turned out. I got one spot on the drivers side floor where I went to go under the dash and some spilled out the top of the hopper. Other than that it was really easy.
