Spring Arch?

I just installed some 56" springs and DIY4X Shackle flip. I came out with the lift that I wanted, but the leaves have hardly any arch to them. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? It is settup for wheeling with only occasional short road trips and no towing, but I still have a back bumper to build, and it is not loaded with any tools or trail spares.

Thanks

Your rear shackle angle looks a little off. I'm no spring expert but that shackle looks like it's at way more of a tilt then it should be. It should be more upright.

You should run a longer shackle. That will get you the extra height when you add more weight, its too far back right now.

But your arch looks just fine. You will have lots of droop in them.

Too far back IMO.

To me you should be about 15 degrees back from vertical. Yours are closer to 45

Shackles are easy to make. Some flat stock and a few holes. Make some long ones and drill a couple sets of holes in them that you can play around with.

The brackets are swapped side to side for the longer 56" springs. The shackle is 4.5. Both from DIY4X. The angle is very close to the factory angle I had with my stock springs and hanger and no lift. I know someone said around 15, but that seems very vertical from most of the pictures I see on here.

Look at your front shackle angle.

Mine has always been about 15 degrees.

Doing a shackle flip compared to having a tension shackle at 45 degrees is a totally different thing.

Back to the original question about spring arch, I have a set of stock 56" spring packs sitting in the shop and they do not have much arch in them either. It's impossible to directly compare your pics to the springs sitting on my shop floor, but I don't see anything alarming in your pics.

FYI: many sites like Pirate4x4 will recommend a shackle angle like you have which appears closer to 45 degrees.......not debating one is better than the other just that some places will recommend different extremes.

Don't mind the blown head gasket. But here is some proof that it does indeed work :D

I have about the same amount of arch in my springs, and they are bump stopped at a half inch past flat. You really don't need as much up travel as you think, droop will make up for it in most cases.

My shackles are also angled about the same as yours. It's in a 1 ton pick up but non the less they are stock 8 leaf 56s w/4" DIY4X flip. I recently moved the flip hangers further forward on my frame to get the angle. They were almost vertical before and the ride quality suffered unless I had a ton of weight in the bed
