Long story short I have a 1/2" wire rope/cable stuck inside of my bushing on my rear leaf spring. I can't get the thing to budge so I was thinking I could beat out the pin and then melt the bushing, get the rope out and repair. What did my rear leafs come off of? They are 64" rear springs. Could I just get rear spring bushings for an '86 K5? Are they the same size? Thanks!

My 64's off of a 07 3/4 ton have 1 5/8 and 2" bushings. Not all 64'shave the same size. Measure your good side with and without the sleeve. I had to sleeve my new bushings because no 1 5/8 are available.

If you have access to a press its much easier to press busings out that beat and melt and cut. I used a press with a bolt dropped through the hole in the bushing with a few washers on it just smaller than the spring eye and pressed em out. If with something stuck in the bolt hole you can just stack some washers on top and press.

I've used a ball joint press to remove/install leaf spring busings before. No need to remove the entire spring this way.

Yeah I don't think I want to try to use a press but I do have one of those ball joint tools from HF. I think I will try that and if I can get it out in one piece I can probably reuse it. Thanks guys!
