Alright, so i think i have found a solution to my bad rear shackle angle. Right now i have custom made rear 52s (installed by PO), and when i put my shackle flip in my shackle is like straight up and down, and i understand it should be more like 45 degrees pointing back, or at least somewhat pointing back. So i think i have a solution...and that is to use 56" rear springs. But i have a few questions about this, from what i understand i can flip the shackle flips side for side and the front mounts wont have to be messed with, second, will installing the 56s get me any lift over the 52s? because if anything i need to lose a little lift in the rear to level her out. If they do gain me lift, could i remove any leaves to make it level?

and lastly, the 56s will make the axle offset because they are 26/30 center to eye, correct? can i fix this with an ez inch?

Yes, swapping sides with the flip brackets allow you to install 56" springs without any other mods.

Assuming each set is the same amount of lift (stock vs stock, 4" vs 4", etc) there is no difference when swapping from 52's o 56's in the rear.

If the 56's are installed in the stock orientation (short sde forward) the axle will be in the stock location.

You said custom 52's, is there any lift into the custom springs? I believe the 56's will net about the same lift. Most shackle flips do net a 90 degree shackle angle because the stock was a compression hangar.

As for the shackle flip, yes most brands are offset to allow the use of 56 or 52 inch springs.

As for the axle offset, 52's are centered. So 26 inches each side. As long as you put the 26" end of the 56" springs forward, your axle will remain in the same spot.

sounds like it would work then, if i even lose 1-2" of lift in the rear it would actually make it sit level. Could i drop it down some by removing leaves out of the pack? (i think its recommended to remove some anyway unless you are towing, which i wont be)

That is what I would check if they are custom springs then I doubt they were built to stock specs.

A straight up and down shackle angle is not a terrible thing. 45* is way way too much angle I tend to shoot for somewhere between 15 and 25 degrees. You get em at too much of an angle and it starts handling weird

Fyi, 2" lift 56's are very hard to find.

This just takes a bit of messing around with. I have removed too many leaves before and had to put some back.

Just take out one leaf at a time and see how it feels.

Always leave the overload in and try to leave any leafs with spring clamps on em in there too

I almost never remove the second leaf, the main leaf gets alot of support from it.

Don't be afraid to cut the leaves if one is too long where you want to use it. I have done this many times. It works very very well

okay sounds good, think im gonna see i can get some from a junkyard or something. What year trucks would these come out of? the rear of suburbans i know (what years?) and 1 ton trucks i believe (what years?)...any insight?

burbs and tons of the square body flavor

Get one from a one ton truck, its like 800 leafs in the leaf pack so you have plenty to play with.

Plus they are usually broken in prettty good.

Check really close for signs of cracking

alright, so 73-87 ish one ton. Thank alot guys, always have the springs i have on there right now to fall back on.
