I'm trying to get my 14 bolt ready to install and the last thing to do is reposition the spring perches. I understand the principle behind the pinion angle, but what I am doing is installing the axles and then I am lifting it later (it's a dd so I have to do everything in steps). When it is all said and done I will be running a 4" lift, what angle should I place the perches and also will it be ok to run before I install the lift?

Setting the angle for a lift you don't have isn't advisable. It probably won't work out well unless you're just lucky. I'd set it for the stock angle. I'm assuming you're using the stock d-shaft (not a CV), so it will be about the same angle as the t-case.

When you lift it, you can do a few simple things to tweak it if you need to. you can shim the t-case crossmember, add degree shims under the springs, play with shackle lengths, or cut the perches and re-align your pinion angle.

If you're using a cv driveshaft, the pinion should be in line with the driveshaft, but angled down a degree or two. The shackle flip on mine put the pinion angle perfectly inline for the new cv driveshaft.

good luck.

4" you should be ok. 6"+ then your for sure gonna need to make adjustments. IMO
