now for a dumb question (maybe). I have searched - are the axles from a CUCV the same width or is the rear narrower like a K5? I am ready to weld the new perches on the 14b and didn,t know if any body had some measurements or the best place to measure from.

Yep all GM truck axles are 3"narrower in the rear than the front.
Roll it under the truck, mark, roll out, weld.
