Take some measurements on the center point of the old perches to a common point on the axle (drum flange) so you can get the new ones in at the same spot, Cut the old ones off, set the new ones on the axle and tighten down the ubolts, check and recheck your pinion/driveshaft angles (if you're not sure what they're supposed to be then read the billavista article on pirate4x4 about driveshafts), check your angles one last time and tack the perches in, remove the ubolts, turn the voltage up on the welder and burnum in. Dont be affraid of double or triple passes to get good penetration if you're not a great welder.
