Is there any advantages of moving the leafsprings out towards the knuckles? I'm planning on installing 2.5 ton rockwells and their hub-to-hub measurement is 79 inches (which I want). I AM going to mount the shocks out there.
I haven't decided if I'm going to put coilovers up front or stay leafsprings . Fabbing won't be a problem (to me that's part of the fun!). Thanks for any feedback.

It would be more stable, but you would lose articulation. Most people who move spring perches move them closer together to get a bit more flex.

Ah, excellent point. That would save me alot of fab work. I would only need to fab up some shock mounts; beauty, eh?!!

You would also be disappointed to discover that you can't turn your tires without rubbing the springs.
