Was driving home an I think my tranny slipped an my rpms went up an now it makes a super loud squeal.. I got it home an drooped the oil pan, found something in the pan looks like piece of aluminum foil not sure what its from, but I found 2 rod bearing caps the nuts I could almost take off with my fingers... I am not good with motors so I'm doing a lot of guessing an not to sure where else to look. I know I need to replace the rod an going to replace the main bearings an oil pump.

You will also have to have the rods resized and new rod bolts installed. The two rods with the loose bolts might not be salvagable either.

The nuts were loose well I think they were loose cuz it took little to no effort to loosen the nuts on the rod bearing cap

sounds like it's time for a crate engine.

with this problem listed and the price of motors this is the best line anyone could quote in here.

or mabye a you here it run used engine. but then that would be no warrenty. just get the crate motor. = warrenty:thumb:

Definitely don't have that kinda cash for a crate motor. That Would be nice tho lol..

by the time you fix the motor you have correctly then a 1200-1800 doller crate motor new or reman will be cheeper.

the labor alone in the reman job of yours will kill the deal.

if need cheep go find a good used motor you can hear and drive first. then buy it and install.

$700 383 bottom end
+
$400 vortec heads
+
$300 in block machine work
+
$150 intake
+
$150 cam

right around a $2000 motor with 480ft/lbs and 420hp.

funny, he says he's on a budget, and then we start tellin him to convert it to 383, Vortec heads and all this other fancy upgrading stuff.

If you're really on a serious cheap budget, the best bet is finding a used running motor pulled from a wrecked truck/car,,whatever. Other than than, the crate motor is probably the best bet.

I had my 350 rebuilt at a local machine shop in Phoenix towards the beginning of the year, with no major crank work done, they did a complete rebuilt with new pistons, (.030 over), reused old rods, reman'd the heads, complete job and even included the roller lifter setup for $1150.

Do some price shopping around on the net, you should be able to find a running motor somewhere close to ya for about 200-350 or so if ya go that route.

Well no need for heads an all that its a vortex motor.. the heads intake an all are already there so
