my spyder gears and shaft broke, how much of a pain are they to replace i have never messed with them, and can someone point me in the right direction for install instructions thanks

its the rear gm 10 bolt 8.5. the shaft im talking about is the shaft the gears are on
That would be the pinion shaft, and they are correctly called pinion gears.
Places sell those parts, last time I looked for replacement pieces though, it was easier/cheaper to find another axle to drop in place than buying a few parts.
Besides, if metal went through the bearings and gears, they might be shot as well.

If its a gm 10 bolt, most will suggest upgrading to a semi float 14bolt. They are pretty easy to find in 6 lug, and some will bolt in w/o any real mods.

You can get the parts from Summit for about 100 or so. They are not hard to install you can do it with the carrier installed.
