There any build threads showing what it takes to put a square body on a 88+ frame? Obviously all the body mounts are wrong, but i just wonder how wrong. Trying to see if an idea i have is worth continuing thinking about. Thanks!

Side note, i found this while googling! :eek1:

Cant find any more pics right now but this was the truck that gave me the idea many years ago.

I think it would be so crazy cool to show up to the dunes in something that looks like a stock 2wd old truck and cruise around with everyone wondering how the F you weren't getting stuck!

The big reason for this particular pipe dream is, while i have a fundamental hatred towards IFS, I have simply never in my life driven a straight axle truck that rode or drove as nice as 90% of the IFS trucks i have driven.

Just give full details on this pipe dream, i would do any year for the cab, but i would turn it into a "73" outside painted like chief brody's k5, but with tan 89-91 suburban interior. And naturally i would have stock white steel wheels and hub caps on it. To me, it seems like the best of all worlds for a truck that sees 90% street time which seems to be my M.O. now a day.

Now all i have to do is get the wife to agree to trade in the '12 on a car for her while i take out a really big loan to do my build... Hence why its a pipe dream...

Oh i would like to start today! But first i would like to start with the basics. Like just how much of an insane fist fk will it be to make new body mounts! Thats why im trying to find build threads for any square on any 88+ frame.

if i recall the bolt hole to bolt hole across the frame is 10" or so wider on the 88-up body style frames over our old trucks .

and honestly the 88-98 frame are not that much better .

boxed front 3rd only . then open C channel .

weld on hangers / box brackets that create rust pockets on the frame and rot them out . as in rear cab / front box combo mount . seen a lot of them in this area rust out bad and drop the frame in 2 .

and the boxed front has its collection areas to hold lots of junk / moisture .

You should try driving the 2015 Dodge 2500 4x4 I rented for BB. Aside from terrible factory tires, it drove really nice. On par or better than my Dad's 06 Dmax 4x4. The rear coil spring handled everything just fine too.

Also, those two pictures of the 60-72 trucks is dead f***ing sexy if I do say so. OMG I need some time alone.

Honestly the round nose dodge 5 link rides like a dream. The gmt400 front end is pretty ****ty even stock they fall out of alignment.

there's a guy on the FB who has done it.... i'll see if I can try and find some pics of it

he posted a lot of pictures, i'd seen it a bunch of times, it was a bright red k10 short box on a 2005 or so frame
