I'm down to the wire on my K30 build, the goal is the CK5 Rausch Creek trip June 9th :D, most of the big stuff is done and like most builds I'm over budget and still need some important stuff, like driveshafts :doah:.

So my question, I'm going to fab up a square tube front shaft and I'm wondering what is the best set up at the t case ? I'm running the stock 86 205 that had the flange mounted cv shaft. I went to 52's in the front so between the lift, the droop, and the axle placement I need something with some decent slip and angle capability. I already have the material (2"x.250 and 1.5" x 3/16" wall) and I have a 1410 yoke for my 60 and a 1410 end for the shaft, I'm just in need of suggestions of what to do at the t case (cheap is good :D)

Thanks

cut the cv off the driveshaft you have and use it.

Nothing cheaper than free.

I have done it multiple times on many different kinds of rigs

The weight of the driveshaft will wear out the u joints quick so if the cv is not in good shape it will kill it quick.

If you buy one of those CV eliminators, figure in a superflex joint also since the eliminator has a lot less travel compared to a yoke

I'd run the stock CV for now

So the stock cv will/ should have enough travel for the droop of the 52's ? Should I clearance/grind them at all ? The shaft build will be my Tuesday project, I'm hoping to finish the tube bed and fuel tank mounts today/ tomorrow.

I've got a couple of front shafts laying around , so I will most likely build 2 complete shafts, JIC :D

Thanks :waytogo:

A little grinding won't hurt, it should have enough travel though

I put a limit strap on my pumpkin side of the axle just to be safe on my shaft though, I'm running 1350's which don't allow as much angle as a 1410 or 1310/3r CV

Cool :waytogo:

I may grind on one of them, see how it works and go from there. I've got 1410 stuff for the one end, it just seems like the 52's flex a lot, and with the BB up front most of it seems like droop :D ( I'm sure you know that too)

Yep, about 2" up and 12" down :haha:

Sounds about right :doah: :haha:

I would really like to drop the coin on a good round long slip shaft, but, I really think I'm going to do a doubler this winter so I just can't see the point in buying a shaft now and then having to lengthen it in a few months. Plus I'm over budget on this thing already, and swapping to a 32 spline output, 1410 yoke, flange and a d shaft isnt in the checkbook right now :doah:
