Could I use square tubing for a spring perch would it be strong engouh, also what thickness would i be looking at to use. Or is it just a better idea to use a solid block. Thanks

1/4" wall should be plenty... but overkill never hurt anyone either. ;)

I used 2 1/2" x 1/4" square tubing. Then used 1/2" plate on top and 3/8" on the inside top to eliminate the zerorate and boxed the open ends with 3/8".

Square tub is fine, I would use at least 1/4 maybe 3/8

Once you get past 1/4" wall the rad's on the corners of the tubes becomes too much IMO.
