just make sure its not hooked up to water pump, etc if its a single belt type.. but i doubt it, just cut it off

Just make sure there is another belt that runs your power steering pump, if so, then just cut it off, belts = trash once they develop a good squeek like you're describing.

Also, odds are that the AC compressor is shot (or at least the clutch/pully assembly)

This is a good topic. My Alternator squeels for the first few blocks if I'm running headlights. Is it just a matter of experimenting with the belt tension? I'm going to do that anyway, just curious about anybody else's experience.
I'm that hat at 03:00 with the "squeeeeerup".:haha:

Its off but its still is a squeaking but i think that it is the fan, what should i do?

You sure it's not the compressor clutch?

Anyway, IIRC the power steering has two belts ... it might need both, so you could go to the parts store and get a belt for that position for a truck *without* AC, if that makes sense ... and yeah, you can take that one off. Worst case your steering will suck and you'll go to the parts house ;)

I know if I don't let my Blazer idle for a few minutes before I load up the electrical system my belt squeals. I watch the amp gauge when I start it up and it starts out below 12v then builds up to around 14v. guess it has to exite it's self.

SO can i take that same ac part off my truck with ease, or is it a huge task and is there fluids i have to worrry about with all thoes hoses???

If you break the lines, there will be a freon leak. (assuming there's any left) Strictly speaking, its illegal to dump freon anywhere... but lots of people just vent it off to atmosphere... beware the eco-nuts will kill you for this if they find out

you can just take off the ac clutch without breaking the lines though

What about the hoses that hook up to it, what are they filled with

those have freon (R-12 i think) maybe 134 in em. like mechted said. it's illegal to pull the hoses and let it out. you can get your system flushed at a shop but it costs. just less headache for you to have it done. i don't use a/c anyhow so i don't know if my blazer's worked or not
