I did some searching on this and iv found people saying it could be a belt to a warped intake.

When i start the truck up it makes a high pitched squeal when i put on the gas, the warmer it gets the less it makes the noise until its fully warmed and then it doesn't make the noise at all.

Thoughts?

Have a good Friday!

Thanks :zombie3:

Its your belt/belts. V belts or serpentine? I have to tighten my alt belt every couple weeks. Then it stretches to a point after a while and it breaks, then i put a new one on and start over. I hear good quality belts squeek less.

Intake or belts. Easy way to check.

Crank it up cold, spray the belts with water, being careful not to get any on the intake.

If the squealing goes away for a few seconds or minutes, its the belts.

If not, you have a small hole in the intake gasket or a crack that closes when the intake warms up and expands.
You could try re-torquing the intake bolts to see if one is loose.

Thanks for the tips guys, ill try all of this over the weekend.

Ill let you know when i get it fixed if either of those options fix it.

thanks again!! :thumb:

If it's an intake leak, it will change a lot with throttle position. I had a leak on one runner that would make a whistling noise sometimes. Nobody believed me when I said it was my turbo, though.

Your issue sounds like the alternator is slipping. The alt charges hard right after start and then the load tapers off. If it was the PS pump you would hear it more when steering, especially at the end of travel.

It could also be a bad bearing on one of the accessories or an idler.

It should be easy to tell where the noise is coming from just by opening the hood and looking around. You can also use a stethoscope (open tube) or just a piece of vacuum hose in one ear to probe around and find the location.

Somethings wrong. A decent belt should last for years or 10's of thousands of miles. Check the alignment and look for pulley true-ness

Funny thing is i alligned my power steering with some washers cuz it was way off. That one still is crooked but that belt never has issues. My alt belt is the one that stretches. The pullies on that side look really good and in line
