Ok, so i've been searching around trying to find an definite answer on this. What is the big difference between a D60 front off of a SRW truck and one off of a DRW truck? besides about $400 on craigslist. Any help is appreciated.

The hubs and rotors are different. The DRW axle makes the front wheels stick out alot further than a SRW.

Just swap the hubs and rotors, and you have a SRW D60. Otherwise not different.

Just a quick note. It is the bearing hubs that are different, the locking hubs are the same.

I bought a DRW front 60 and had a friend machine off the DRW wheel flange and put studs thru the rotor hub and it worked out fine. A machine shop should be able to do that for you cheaper than new hubs.

other than mentioned they are the same,

400.00 is a good price, fair price for a 60..

but..

new hubs, 160-250 each with rotors, plus bearings, races, seals, studs

so about 400-600 to get it all fresh and ready, your right back at a 1000.00 but witha axle that is more fresh, I know someone dealing with this right now and the dealer was the cheapest route with rotors going through a shop.

I went with a dually front because i wanted to run the hummer wheels, I scored my wheels for 100.00 plus 325.00 for rock rings and inserts/o-rings so about 425.00 for new wheels not a bad price if your swapping to 8 lug and need them anyways....but what about tires? If you have nice tires or ones you like the 16.5 rims wont help you out much.

damned 60 is pricy even if you get it for free

I paid 600 bucks for my DRW 60 and had a friend MACHINE off the extra flange. I DIDN'T have to buy new hubs and rotors. Then take the bolts out that hold the hub and rotor together and press wheel studs in there.
I DID THIS BEFORE :D

yup that works to, rob another local had this done as well

He means $400.00 difference in price between a D60 SRW and a D60 DRW

well in that case I would simply buy the right axle to start with if the other one has good brakes.

400.00 gets used up real quick and adds hassle to the project,

160.00 for hubs and rotors per side, then an easy 20-30 for bearings/races plus wheel studs if you dont want to re-use yours

so right back at 400.00 your spending to get you to an axle you could have just picked up for the same price, and the dealer wont have the rotors/hubs in stock anyways. Just inspect the srw axle and make sure its in good shape.

sounds like a round about way to end up at the same spot! The machining the drw hubs is a nice way to save dough but you need a person to do it, do it right and then do it in a time line that actually helps you.
