SSR different??

hey guys, i just wanted to know the difference between the super swamper SSR, and a regular super swamper.

In the pics the tires you extremely similar...

siping and radials are what come to mind quickly.

also the pattern is a little tighter on the SSR so you have more rubber on the road.

Are super swampers regularly bias ply??

I own a set of 35" bias, but when I get in the market, I want to know which ones to rule out.

ssr's are alot thicker too, alot of 8 and 10 ply i believe, mostly for more load capacity

has anyone owned a set yet??

I looked at them a while back, and I forgot about the sidewall, but I remembered the sipping. They do look alot different now that I see them together.

I think I would still stick with the original super swampers.

Are the SSR's supposed to be like a more aggressive A/T??

I have had a set and I have freinds with ssrs they like them, good mix of traction and they last pretty decently. They are a heavy tire though my 33s I had weighed as much as a 35" Goodyear MTR

I got a set of 35x14.5's. I have between about 30k on em and they have pretty much had it. Of course when the new tires went on is when the new engine went in, so their first yr of life was hell . I was thinkin about gettin a set of hawgs next time around, but I think I might stick with SSR's. Need to make a decision though, tires are wearin quick.

Traction was good on & offroad, great street manners, good wet weather. Now that they have gotten down to the wear bars, they suck everywhere and vibrate like crazy

Are they better offroad then Mt's, or MTR's??

Nobody I know has MTR's, but they definately do better than friends w/ MT's

I put a set of SSR 33x14.50x16.5 10 plys on my K20 a year ago, I love them. Great for heavy loads when I air them to max at 65 psi. Makes a difference when pulling a trailer. Offroad I like them way better than previous BFG MT's I've had. Not too loud on road and have good traction on wet pavement (again better than BFG MT's).

If the price is right I'm going to try a set of 35x10.5R17 SSRs on my dodge next........10 ply rating, 80psi, 3640lbs max load........we'll see about wear on my over fueled cummins powered heavy ass dodge........

My BFG M/Ts are spent now........
